KATHLEEN KOEHLER, MD
Dr. Koehler received her undergraduate degree at Wellseley College and went on to receive her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of medicine. She did her residency at New England Deaconess Hospital and a gastroenterology fellowship at Tufts New England Medical Center. She practiced on the Island from 1994 to 2004 and served on the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital’s Board of Trustees. She subsequently served for 12 years at Cape Cod Hospital before joining Vineyard Medical Care in 2015.
GERALD YUKEVICH, MD
Dr. Yukevich graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He holds a Masters in Public Health from Harvard and a BA in English Literature from Princeton. He spent the first ten years of his medical career as an emergency room physician in a variety of Massachusetts mainland hospitals. He now lives in Vineyard Haven having spent 7 seven years in our hospital’s emergency room. He joined Dr. Michael Jacobs in Vineyard Medical Services in 2006 and joined Vineyard Medical Care in 2014. In 2014 and again in 2015 and 2016 Dr. Yukevich was voted the Island’s Best Primary Care Physician. His interests range from the prevention and treatment of tick-borne illnesses, to the Vineyasrd Playhouse where he serves on the board, as well as writes and performs. He plays the piano and violin, reads Pushkin in its original Russian, etc.
BILL TSIKITAS, MD
Bill Anthony Tsikitas was born and raised in New York City, borough of Queens, and attended the City College of New York, earning his bachelor’s degree in Biology in 1974. His love of learning and understanding the wonders of Nature and science led him to pursue the field of medicine. He attained his degree as Doctor of Medicine in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1981, graduating amongst the top 10% of his class. He undertook an internship and residency in the specialty of Internal Medicine at the NYU affiliated Booth Memorial Hospital, in Queens, passing up becoming chief resident to begin his passion for community-based patient care in his own private practice, in Bayside, raising a family of 2 children with his beloved wife Marianne. After a wonderful summer vacation on Martha's Vineyard, he decided to fulfill his personal and professional dreams, and move there in 1991. He became an active member of the Martha's Vineyard Hospital medical staff, caring for patients in office and hospital settings including the critically ill, whilst serving on important joint hospital committees including Medical Executive, chaired the Quality Improvement and Ethics Committees and partook in Hospital Board meetings on providing best care and standards for the Island community. Thoroughly enjoying his busy practice, working with colleagues, and raising his family, he lived the dream of a committed responsible member of the Martha's Vineyard community. After a fulfilling 15 years, with personal and family considerations, he moved to Albany, New York in 2006, joining the staff at St. Peter's Hospital where he was appointed the Director of the Hospitalist program. However, after 3 years, deciding to return to Massachusetts, to be nearer to their children, he joined the South Shore Hospitalist program. He was sought after and recruited by the Medical Staff of the New England Baptist Hospital, a Boston institution renowned for its excellence in Orthopedics. There he worked with medical and surgical colleagues to help care for patients to establish and maintain their optimal health, and enable the best medical outcomes without, or prior to, through and after surgery. He continued with an active medical practice, for over 11 years, served on the Critical Care Committee, when along with his wife, blessed with new grandchildren, they both retired and returned to continue their lives and future on Martha's Vineyard. However, after a hiatus of about 2 years, in a continued desire to help provide medical care to his community once again, he has now joined the team at Vineyard Medical Care, hoping to contribute to the overall best health outcomes for the Island community.
KELLEY ELLSWORTH, PA-C
Kelley, a graduate of The George Washington University, previously completed a student rotation with Vineyard Medical Care. Later she returned as a licensed Physician Assistant to work at VMC for the Summer of 2020 and continued into 2022. Subsequently she worked in Internal Medicine for Medstar in Washington, DC from 2022-2023. Kelley is now trained in Pain Reprocessing Therapy as well.
LAURA KELLEY, NP
Laura Kelley is a Family Nurse Practitioner with experience in primary care, urgent care, nursing education, and concierge medicine. Prior to becoming an NP she spent most of her years as an RN working in the emergency department. She is passionate about teaching, preventative care , fitness, nutrition, and global healthcare. Laura is interested in the healthcare or rural and underserved communities. SUE MCSWEENEY, NP
Sue McSweeney, as resident of Oak Bluffs and a seasonal resident of Hawaii, has a BSN in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and a MSN in Nursing from the Family Nurse Practitioner Program, also at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
She has had extensive experience in critical care nursing in the Boston area as well as around the world. She also had extensive outpatient primary care experience as an NP provider and educator. She enjoys seeing walk-in patients at VMC.
VIRGINIA (JILL) FALL, RN
Virginia (Jill) Fall, RN, joins the Vineyard Medical Care Staff after a long career in nursing at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital in the Emergency Department and in outpatient Peri-operative Services. She had a BSN from Boston College and is currently a resident of Oak Bluffs. She has extensive experience with the Meditech EMR and has had experience with ICU and CCU nursing. At VMC, she makes use of her extensive experience with patient care and communication.

AMANDA BETTENCOURT, MA
Amanda Bettencourt graduated from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in 2003. She received her Medical Assistant degree from the Everest Institute in 2007 and worked as several Boston-area health care facilities including the Beth Israel and Jordan Hospitals. She is glad to be back on Martha's Vineyard with her young family and pleased to be part of the healthcare staff at Vineyard Medical Care.

ANNA JACOBS
Anna studied pre-architecture and design at Franklin Pierce University. During college and post-graduation, she spent her time employed as a set-designer for several theaters in New Hampshire. After experiencing a few summers on Martha’s Vineyard, she had a desire to live near the ocean and moved to Cape Cod in 2010. She switched her career to healthcare in 2014, working with Emerald Physician Services located at the Falmouth Hospital. Anna joined Vineyard Medical Care when she was fortunate to move to the Island in September of 2017.

MICHAEL D. LOBERG, PHD
Michael D. Loberg holds a PhD in Chemistry from Washington University and is the President of Vineyard Medical Care and the Chairman of the Vineyard Center for Clinical Research. Dr. Loberg has 17 years of experience in pharmaceutical drug discovery and development, combined with 21 years of experience in senior management positions worldwide, most notably for Bristol-Myers Squibb Company from 1983 to 1995. From 1973 to 1979, Dr. Loberg was also Associate Professor of Medicine and Pharmacy at the University of Maryland. He served as the CEO of Inotek and NitroMed and remains active in biotechnology, currently serving on the boards of IGM Biosciences, ArQule and Kereos. He has served as a Tisbury Health Commissioner since 2009 and is on the board of Vineyard Village at Home. He has served as a board member of Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard and has co-chaired the Boards of Health Committee on Tick Borne Diseases, a program funded through a five grant from the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. He has been a full-time island resident in Vineyard Haven for the past 15 years.
JAMES BUTTERICK, MD
Dr. Jim Butterick graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and then did two years of surgical training and two years of anesthesia training before leaving to practice in New Hampshire. He is Board-certified in Anesthesiology. He transitioned to an administrative career in the early 90's and got a Masters in Medical Management from Tulane University. He was a Vice-President for Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer for several hospitals in New England, most recently with Cape Cod Healthcare. He has been very active with medical staff credentialing, healthcare quality and safety, and addressing issues of physician performance and behavior. He is a full time resident of Martha's Vineyard and lives in Oak Bluffs.
