PRIMARY CARE & MORE

Vineyard Medical Care serves island residents and welcomes vacationing visitors who require medical attention. Since the island does not have any urgent care facilities other than the ER, Vineyard Medical Care offers medical attention to those in sudden need of care for minor illnesses. Patients may avoid unnecessary and costly hospital emergency room visits and help prevent the ER from becoming overwhelmed with less severe instances.

We are a small practice and ask for your understanding that we are NOT an urgent care or walk-in clinic*. We do offer same-day or next-day appointments as much as we can safely manage within the scope of our licensing.

*Walk-ins are welcome, but we do have limited availability.

*There is no on-site imaging (x-rays, ultrasounds, CT, MRI, etc.)

*Our clinicians are not pediatricians and have varying age limits based on the severity of the problem. Please check with our front office on the availability of an appointment for your child.

We also offer appointments for the following services:

Exams/Tests requested by employers (e.g., physicals, TB tests, drug screenings)
Sports physicals for students
DOT exams
Police exams
Chain-of-Custody Drug Testing
Coast Guard exams

Policy Update

Vineyard Medical Care is pleased to acknowledge the end of the mandatory mask policy for staff and patients and shift to optional masking beginning Friday May 12, 2023, one day after the federal and state COVID-19 Public Health Emergency officially ends.

The policy change is aligned with MA Department of Public Health guidelines and policies put in place by other nearby healthcare organizations. This is based on the steep decline in the impact and severity of COVID-19 infection in our communities due to vaccines, the availability of therapeutics to treat COVID-19, and the extensive natural immunity that has occurred. However, it is important to note that we encourage any patients and staff who feel more comfortable wearing a mask during appointments to continue to do so. We will still have masks available at all our practice locations for your comfort and convenience.

The end of the COVID Public Health Emergency marks a new era of living with COVID-19. We want to emphasize that we recognize some of our patients and staff may feel more comfortable wearing a mask during visits to VMC and we encourage you to continue to do so if that is your desire. For those of us that elect not to mask, we also want all of us to know there may be circumstances during which our staff will ask us to wear a mask and we appreciate your willingness to do so.

Our policy starting Friday, May 12th, 2023, will be:

1)      Mandatory mask wearing by all patients and staff will end.

2)     Any patient or staff member may choose to continue to wear masks in exam rooms or any part of our VMC office; masks will be provided to anyone desiring one.

3)     Given the clinical circumstances, patients will not be asked to routinely mask unless requested to do so by our staff or providers.

4)     Patients that present with any symptoms of a respiratory illness may be asked to wear a mask when in VMC.

5)     Staff will use masks per Standard Precautions (e.g., when engaging in care activities that may generate splashes or sprays) and Transmission-based precautions (e.g., when interacting with patients on Droplet Precautions)
